Today you get to meet LeaAnn!
She and I also met through The Loved Bible Project (do you see a trend here?) a few years ago. We have been part of multiple groups together and I am so thankful she decided to join this team. I remember seeing her crochet edges onto baby blankets last year and thinking, “she needs to make Legacy Blankets”! It’s been a lot of fun watching her grow in her skill and seeing all the blankets she has been part of!
Here’s more about LeaAnn:
Where are you located?
I live in Central Texas in Harker Heights near Killeen and Fort Hood.
When and how did you learn to crochet?
I can’t remember how I learned to crochet, but I think it was from my grandmother, aunt, and a book!
What do you enjoy crocheting the most?
My first project was an afghan for my boyfriend (now my husband!), and it turned out so terrible that I made another one after we married which turned out a lot better! 😂 Just a plain zigzag pattern with changing colors! I went on to needlepoint, and mostly cross stitch afterwards, and never crocheted again until last summer when our church made blankets for the local Pregnancy Center by crocheting a simple border on the edge of fleece blankets! I enjoyed it very much and was reminded of how relaxing it could be!
When I saw Mandi’s Makings – Legacy Blankets through The Loved Bible Project, I was very interested in helping to make blankets for such a worthy cause! I was “hooked” when I found the video teaching how to make the squares, and spent hours watching You Tube videos, asking questions through FB Messenger, and asking local friends for advice! Amanda has been so wonderful and patient to answer my questions, and I just find this so relaxing and rewarding when I complete one! I’m still working on perfecting the squares though and continue to try and make them better and better!
What is your favorite yarn to use when crocheting?
I’ve only used three different yarns, but Caron Simply Soft is my favorite so far since it’s so soft and thick and uniform in thickness compared to the others I’ve used! I would also love to learn how to make other types of squares, but I enjoy these for now!
If you could visit any where in the world, where would you go?
If I could visit anywhere in the world, it would be a trip to Israel to visit the Holy Lands!
Are you enjoying getting to know more about our creators? We will have more “Meet the Team” posts soon, so stay tuned!
