The In Bloom Legacy Blanket

Happy Easter, friends!!

I hope you are able to find joy in the truth that Jesus is still alive and we can find Hope in Him. 🙂  This world may be turned upside down, but He is still the same.

This In Bloom Legacy Blanket was created to offer a little happiness and color in a world that is hurting and broken. A reminder that we are ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

I pray this blanket bring you peace as you create it.

I pray this blanket brings you peace as you think about who you want to make it for.

I pray this blanket brings peace to the person you gift it to.

Don’t forget…. Legacy Blankets are saturated in prayer.

Pray for those who are hurting.

Pray for those who are helping.

Pray for those who need a little extra hope right now.

Pray for the person who will receive it.

Abbreviations:

HDC: half double crochet

How to create a puff stitch:

Yarn over. Insert hook into space. Draw up a loop.  (3 loops on hook). Repeat until you have 9 loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw through all 9 loops on your hook.

How to create your squares:

Color 1:

Ch 5. Sl st to create a circle.

Round 1: Ch 2. (6) puff stitches into the circle. Sl st into ch 2 space.

Round 2: Ch 2. (2) puff stitches into each space between puff stitches in previous round. (12) puff stitches total. Sl st into ch 2 space.

Color 2:

Round 3: Ch 2, dc into same space. (counts as 2 dc). (1) dc into next space. *(2) dc, (1) dc around. Sl st into ch 2 space. (36 dc total)

Ivory Color:

We will now begin forming our circle into a square.

Round 4: Ch 1. (Hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) into same space. (This creates your first corner for your Legacy square.) Hdc into next 8 spaces. *(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) into next space, hdc into next 8 spaces* repeat 2x’s. Sl st into ch 1 space.

Round 5: Ch 1. *(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) into corner space, hdc into all st across* repeat until you arrive back at the ch 1 space. Sl st into ch 1 space.

Round 6: Ch 1. Hdc into next space. *(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) into corner space, hdc into all st across* repeat until you arrive back at the ch 1 space. Sl st into ch 1 space.

Finish off and weave in ends.

For the ivory squares, you will use this exact same pattern, but the entire square will be created using only the ivory color.

How to connect your squares:

Once you have made all 30 squares, you will lay them out to create a pattern that looks just like this:

Square 1 Square 6 Square 3 Square 6 Square 5
Square 6 Square 2 Square 6 Square 4 Square 6
Square 1 Square 6 Square 3 Square 6 Square 5
Square 6 Square 2 Square 6 Square 4 Square 6
Square 1 Square 6 Square 3 Square 6 Square 5
Square 6 Square 2 Square 6 Square 4 Square 6

To connect your squares, use this same method:

Once all of your squares have been connected, take time to weave in any remaining ends you have left.

To create your border:

Round 1: Using Amethyst yarn, HDC around entire edge of blanket, increasing in each corner (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc).

Round 2: Using Turquoise yarn, repeat Round 1.

Round 3: Using Banana yarn, repeat Round 1.

Round 4: Using Coral yarn, repeat Round 1.

Round 5: Using White yarn, repeat Round 1.

Finish off and weave in remaining ends.
